Old Business
Fall Festival: Preparations for the festival is
underway for Friday. The gym will have games and the LGI room will be the
“glow in the dark” room.
Andrea Cretin is providing supplies for Heather Rhodes “creepy
room” i.e. hand sanitizer, baby wipes for kids to clean hands before =
and
after visiting the booth. It =
was
suggested to make kids aware that they can wear their costumes but emphasize
that there should be no weapons.
Mrs. Daggy will provide free bracelets as well.
Hot Dog Stand: $540 was raised. Almost everything for the stand was
donated. Kelli Southern’=
;s
father-in-law donated use of his grill for the stand. Any extra hotdogs, chips, sodas, e=
tc
will be used for the Fall Festival.
Market Day: Joann Abdoo stated that Market Day=
made
$750 so far this year. Next m=
onth
is Dessert Bonus Day. PTO can=
make
extra money with the purchase of desserts.=
If we sell more than 250 desserts and/or pies, we make $2.75 per pie
plus 10% profit of total sale. It
was suggested to have a contest to promote this fundraiser with having the
class with the most pie purchase can win a pizza party as a reward. Another suggestion to help motivat=
e the
kids is to have the top seller get an opportunity to throw a pie in their
teachers face. Andrea Cretin will be putting information on Sumlist.
Teacher Luncheon: The date for the luncheon has been
changed to Dec. 9th.
There is a PTO meeting the night before. If they would prefer, family membe=
rs who
attend the meeting that night, can also drop off their goods for the lunche=
on
after the meeting.
Family Share: Wed. Oct. 14th for Grad=
es K-3
and Tues. Oct 20th for Grades 4-6.
New Business
Art to Remember: Kim Reinks is the chairperson for =
this
fundraiser. The art will be i=
n on
Oct. 21st. The
child’s art will be put in envelopes to be sent home and returned, if
parents are interested, by Nov. 4th. This is a fundraiser to help raise=
money
for an art sculpture for the school.
Open Discussion
~No dates for H1N1 va=
ccine
yet. The vaccine will be shot=
s, not
nasal. We must still watch ki=
ds for
30 minutes after receiving the vaccine.
~There was a suggesti=
on for
another way to raise money which would be through using a search engine like
Google. Non-profits can regis=
ter,
click on “
~Kroger cards are sti=
ll
available.
~It was mentioned hav=
ing a
bike event similar to the walk to school event. Heather Rhodes stated that she was
interested in doing that at one point, but is worried about it being a
liability issue with crossing busy roads.&=
nbsp;
It was suggested to possibly talking to local bike shops for informa=
tion
and ideas. We have had bike r=
odeos
where bike helmets have been given to the students.
~A parent suggested h= aving more open houses for parents who don’t get a chance to be at school during the day, to see more projects in the classrooms, talk to teachers, etc. Heather Rhodes suggested= that teachers could maybe leave their doors open during Family Fun Night. Another idea that was mentioned was having an Art Show. That had been done last year during Music Night. It was suggested to have Open House= later in the year, maybe during the Fall Festival, to give teachers more time to = make projects, etc. Mr. Waltz ment= ioned that parents are always welcome to come into school anytime during the day.=
~Kim She= rwood suggested having events for single parents, i.e. Donuts with Dad or Muffins with Mom. It was suggested th= at events like that should be out of class for kids who do not have moms or da= ds that could attend. It could b= e held in the morning before school, approx. 8:30am.
~A possible Family Dance in the spring. Andrea Cretin tentatively voluntee= red to organize it.
*Next PTO Meeting is on Thursday, Nov. 12th= at 7pm.*
~Meeting adjourned at 8:17pm.
