purchase items from the Marsh Education catalog. Eleven reams of paper, a tub of si=
dewalk

al
2-Liter bottles of soda should be delivered Fr=
iday
to the Summit Office for the ring toss game. Baked goods should be delivered Fr=
iday
to the LGI (Large Group Instruction) Room for the Cake Walk. More donations of 2-liters and bak=
ed
goods are needed. Susan
Schlegel volunteered to bake the remaining 3 cookie dough tubs from the PTO
Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Set-=
up for
Carnival begins Friday at 4:00 pm.
More volunteers are needed to work Carnival games. Heather Rhodes will check with tea=
chers

sheets not turned in. Susan <=
span
class=3DSpellE>Bretsch and Vicki Hudson will contact those on the Ca=
rnival
Volunteer List to ask for more volunteers.=
Three ticket tables will be utilized during th=
e 6:00
– 7:00 pm hour and two ticket tables during the last hour. All ticket tables will be in=
the
cafeteria area, with Raffle prizes displayed on the north wall of the cafet=
eria

dunk tank will be outside near the back playground.
Dana Green to contact KFC to ask for a donatio=
n of
clean buckets to use in collecting tickets at each game booth and for the
Raffle items. At the end of the evening, tickets=
will
be collected from each game and sealed in bags, to be counted by PTO member=
s,
in order to track the popularity of each game and provide an idea of what i=
tems
might be needed for next year’s Carnival.
Election of O=
fficers
Heather Rhodes presented the PTO Officers for =
the
2006-2007 school year. They are: President – Dana Green, Co-V=
ice
Presidents – Susan Bretsch and Toni Ladow, Treasurer – Kim Let=
ner
and Secretary – Jennifer Syrek.
Heather also reported that the EBS committee h=
as the
results from the Survey Monkey School Survey (which students, parents and s=
taff
had the opportunity to take online earlier in the year). Concerns expressed in those survey=
s will
be addressed next school year, particularly students’ concerns about
bullying and requests for more playground equipment.
TreasurerR=

rom

Post-Carnival=
Review
– Held May 9, 2006 7:00 pm LGI Room
Courtney Arthur, this year’s Carnival Ch=
air,
thanked everyone for their great help and on coming together to put on a
successful Carnival! 15,600 t=
ickets
were sold and after the expenses are subtracted the result is $2,948.11. It must be mentioned that due to g=
enerous
donations from Osco West and a surplus of prizes from past years, that
additional prizes did not have to be purchased this year. This must be taken into account fo=
r next
year, as prizes will need to be purchased and in greater quantity. The consensus was that each and ev=
ery
game should have at least one prize for “winning” the game and =
one
consolation prize for playing. At
least 18,000 to 20,000 tickets should be purchased as well (we had to re-is=
sue
tickets, which will throw off the ticket count per game this year. Hot dogs did not sell very well so
another option will be considered for next year (pizza possibly). We also had too many baked items f=
or the
Cake Walk (again, due to the many generous donations of Summit parents and others). Bottled water sold very well and w=
ould
be a good option again for next year.
Teachers should be contacted at least 4 weeks in advance of Carnival=
, in
order to select their classroom game and procure volunteers. Jennifer Syre=
k
urged anyone with suggestions or ideas regarding Carnival to email them to =
her
(or write down and leave in the PTO mailbox). A document will be created with all
suggestions and filed in the Carnival folder, in preparation for next
year’s Carnival Committee.
Jennifer will create and print thank you letters to all the donors a=
nd
Toni Ladow will stuff and address envelopes and=
see
that they are mailed out. Jen=
nifer
will also create a flyer, thanking all parents, volunteers, teachers and st=
aff
and distribute next week. Thi=
s may
evolve into a newsletter to include upcoming dates for events at Summit.
