Spring Carnival
It was decided to ask classroom teachers to sign up for =
the
game they wish their class to sponsor and ask their student’s parents=
to
staff the game during the Carnival.
It was determined that 2 people per shift could run the game and each
game would then need a total of 8 volunteers for the evening (3-30 minute
shifts and 1-40 minute shift, at the end for tear down). [Completed
4/21 ~ Courtney has Master List of classroom game/good booth assignments.]<=
/b>
Courtney will also contact the art teachers about designing large floor num=
bers
for the Cake Walk.
It was decided that Theme Baskets for the Raffle would n=
ot
be a viable option at this late date, but could be initiated next year. Susan Schlegel and Dana Green have
obtained a large list of items for the raffle and Vicki Streiff
volunteered to create a Carnival flyer listing the items to be raffled. [Raffle
Flyer went out 4/27.]
The Family Resource Office will function as “home
base” during the Carnival, where volunteers will check in before goin=
g to
their assigned game. A PTO Of=
ficer
will be needed to check periodically on the ticket tables, to collect the l=
arge
bills.
Additional prizes may need to be purchased and it was
discussed that wrist bands could be an option for a prize. With 11 booths, a choice of two pr=
izes
each would be offered.
Toni Ladow has contacted all=
three
Kroger stores and they will donate baked goods. Toni will ask each store how
they would like to donate (all in one day, or over a period of days). Courtney Arthur and Jackie G=
oodman
offered to pick up the donated items when they are available.
Mr. Ladow at Kroger has offe=
red to
donate half of what we spend at Kroger on supplies for the Carnival. It was decided to purchase 300 mor=
e hot
dogs (as we have 300 in the freezer), 600 hot dog buns, 30 lbs sugar (for
making Kool-aid, which we already have the Kool-aid mix), 3 each of mustard, ketchup and relish =
and a
bag of sweet onions for condiments.
The PTO already has some cups on hand, but Toni Ladow
said she would look into getting more donated. Along with offering popcorn and ho=
t dogs
for purchase, it was felt that nachos could be another option. Dana Green will check with Bloomin=
gton
South to see if we can borrow their nacho machine (they are already loaning=
us
their popcorn machine). [Update: Yes, Dana can get the nacho machin=
e.] It was decided to purchase the pop=
corn,
popcorn oil, nacho cheese, chips and nacho containers from Sam’s Club,
due to cost. PTO has popcorn =
salt
and bags and napkins already.
Volunteers are needed to make Kool<=
/span>-aid
before the Carnival begins. P=
TO has
2-10 gallon containers and Susan Schlegel and Susan Br=
etsch
offered the use of their 5-gallon containers as well. Offering bottled water for purchas=
e was
discussed as an alternative to Kool-aid.
Tickets are purchased before entering the Carnival and a=
re
priced at 25 cents each. All =
games
and food items use tickets, not cash.
Ticket prices for food items was discussed and will be determined cl=
oser
to Carnival when the actual cost of the food items is known.
Treasurer’s
Report
Melissa Fulton presented the Treasurer’s Report. The decision was made to order $50=
0.00
more of Kroger Certificates, as the batch coming in tomorrow are spoken for
already and there seems to be high demand for the certificates and we want =
to
be able to meet that demand. =
Vicki Streiff will call the order in, pick them up and deli=
ver to
school when they arrive at Kroger. <=

the School Office from Mrs. Osborne.]
Teacher’s
Luncheon
Affairs of the Sun will be catering a Teacher’s
Luncheon on Thursday, June 8. PTO
members will assist in serving the luncheon.
Marsh Fresh Ideas=
in
Education
Timmi-Lynn Dobbins had reported to Courtney Arthur that the Marsh Fresh Ideas in Educa= tion program has raised $23,000 dollars that we are able to spend in their catalog. Thanks to Timmi-Lynn for her work on getting this successful pr= ogram set up. Courtney will contact= Marsh on how to proceed regarding ordering from the catalog. The PTO would like to express our = thoughts and prayers to Timmi-Lynn and her family during= their recent health difficulties. <= o:p>
